BIGGEST BAR EVENT IN BOURNEMOUTH FOR 2015 IN ASSOCIATION WITH BAR SO & 1812
Thursday 26th of November 2015 @ Bar So, The Nectar road show & UKBG open day and Bournemouth Bartenders Grand Prix 2015 and
So Flair 2015 took place which was attended by a big crowd of bartenders, drinks companies & bar equipment.
The doors opened at 12pm with the Nectar Road Show and UKBG open day where there were around 26 stands from some of the major spirit and wine national brands from the Nectar import portfolio.
To welcome numerous visitors were, Fiona Jukes MD of Nectar imports, Michael Sweetman UKBG National Vice President, Salvatore Damiano UKBG South Area Chairman, Dimitri Pesce hotel reception Manager for Royal Exeter Hotel and Francesco Oglialoro director of Bottle Consulting Ltd.
The stands were represented by Campari Brands, Cellar trend, R’eal Fruit Purees, Remy Cointreau, William Grant & Sons, China Stack bar equipment, Shepard Neame, Windfall Fruit and beer,Trilogy Brands, Diageo brands, Marussia Bevarages, Speciality Brands, Belvoir Mixers, High Spirits, Funkin Purees and mixers, Edinburgh Gin, Whyte and Mackay, Pedrino alcoholic mixers, Fever Tree Mixers, Conker Gin,Twisted Nose Gin & Vodka, South Western Distilleries, Frobisher fruit juices, EWGA, Godmister, East London Liquors, Wild beer Co.
At 1pm, Kevin Thomas our MC of the day invited all for an Aperitif time offered by our sponsors and Nectar imports.
At 2pm he presented to the public Dee Davis creator of Jinzu Gin (Diageo Reserve Brands)where she explained her idea and inspiration behind her brand, preparing on the stage, Jinzu Tonic, French 75 and Dry Martini.
At 2.15pm Kevin officially opened the Bournemouth Bartenders Grand Prix 2015 The market challenge, where our 10 finalist who were selected on 5th of November during our De Kuyper Weird Mystery Box competition 2015, they had 15 minutes to visit our 26 stands and select ingredients and glassware, on their return using their represented brand and the other selected products they had 7 minutes to create an original drink. The 4 judges they had to to impress were Dave Marsland from Drinks Enthusiasts, Peter Holland from the Floating Rum Shack, James Fowler Diageo UK World Class Champion 2014 and Eve Vasileiadou representing UKBG and the Churchill Bar @ the Hyatt Regency Hotel.
The winner of the competition was Gemma Terry from “Smoking Aces” in association with Eau de vie bar events (Bournemouth) Scott Paine Marussia Beverages, with her creation ” River of Fire”(40ml Evan Williams Extra old; 20ml Amaro; 15ml De Kuyper Triple Sec; 15ml Salize Amaretto; 5ml Peat monster Whisky; dash of Angostura).Winning £250 in cash, the De Kuyper bar kit donated by Paul Curry from William Grant & Sons
The title of the Bournemouth Bartenders Grand Prix Champion, presented by the Vice President of the UKBG Michael Sweetman.
2nd place Cameron Moncaster from the Larder House and Library Southbourne,Winning £100 in cash; Presented by Fiona Dukes.
3rd place Sarah Owers from Urban Reef, Boscombe, winning £50 in cash, Presented by Paul Curry.
Also another prestigious trophy was awarded to Thomas Quy from the Captains Club Hotel in Christchurch. The UKBG Southern Area Bartender of the year .
After a nice break and food we were back on the stage to take part for the So Flair competition 2015 were we had 8 international finalists judged by :
Chris Baddeley from RoadHouse Covent Garden, Steven Harman from Adventure Bar Covent Garden and Dave Reynolds from
RoadHouse Covent Garden.
The Winner of the UKBG Flairtender of the year 2015 was, Hiroshi Ichikwa from ANFA in Japan.
2nd place Miika Mehtio, VIP bartendersWinner of the so flair competition.
3rd place Akim Dagdzhyiev, performance bartending UK.
