The first edition of the UKBG and Monin Cup was held at Ronnie Scotts, Soho, London and 20 competitors battled hard for the £750 prize. Competitors had to make a cocktail with either Monin Liqueur or Syrup and had a free choice on the base spirit on the first round. Then the first six were given surprise ingredients and had to make a cocktail on the spot.
Giulio Amodio fom China Tang at The Dorchester was the one to win over the judges with Tiziano Tasso from the Club At The Ivy taking second place, Mirko Falconi from the Lanesborough was third, Richard Beck from Roof Garden was 4th, Pancrazio Manconi from the Ritz Hotel 5th and Salvatore D’Amico 6th.
