10 of the most promising bartenders in the country competed at the UKBG Young Bartender of The Year sponsored by Martell Cognac.
The competition was only open to members not older the 27, it consisted of 3 sections, a questionnaire with 100 questions on product and general knowledge, a Role Play where the bartenders had to make 2 classic based Cognac, in this case a Porto Flip and an Egg Nogg, and also interact with 2 guests. The last part was a cocktail competition with Martell XO.
Held at the beautiful Homehouse Club the day started early and some competitors came all the way from Scotland to take part.
The Best questionnaire went to Jonatan Ferri, The best Role Play to Bruno Do Nascimento from The Dorchester Hotel, The Best Cocktail to Simone Caporale from Artesian at The Langham’s and the Best Technical to Alessandro Pizzoli from The Ritz.
The Overall Winner was Jonatan Ferri who will represent the UKBG at The IBA Elite Bartender Course 2011. Jonatan also wins at trip to Martell, he will be joined by Simone Caporale who was second, Harry Glockler from the Ritz 3rd and Bruno Do Nascimento who came 4th.
