UKBG returns this weekend to Cocktail in the City’s Summer Series. This time, the Guild will be bringing along three great products from Constellation Brand’s amazing portfolio and building a historical Prohibition Era ‘speakeasy’ experience.
Cocktails in the City is an annual fundraising series of festival events, for the UK’s leading benevolence organisation for the hospitality industry, The Drinks Trust. It is an opportunity for bar professionals to build new, engaging and immersive experiences for an entirely new audience while benefiting our industry’s workers.
Alongside three amazing drinks – The Real McCoy 12 Year Rum, Casa Noble Reposado Tequila and High West Double Rye! – the UKBG will be leading a journey through one of the most historically interesting periods of our industry – the Prohibition Era – with a menu of cocktails harkening back to the 1920s-30s. As well as a list of great drinks, we will also be hosting two masterclasses taking a look at the period of prohibition and the cultures that emerged from it.
The Real McCoy, a brand inspired by real-life rum runner, Bill McCoy. Produced as its fourth generation family-owned distillery in Barbados, the Real McCoy is winner of Rum Producer of the Year, 2016 (IWSC) and 2017 (ISC). Their 12-Year Aged Rum will be guesting on the UKBG menu, with its exceptionally smooth & balanced, complex wood & spice notes, hint of vanilla, and long elegant finish.
Casa Noble Tequila, a triple distilled, certified organic, small batch company hailing from Tequila, Mexico – led by a 7th-generation Maestro Tequilero, Jose ‘Pepe’ Hermosillo. Their award-winning lines are made from individually selected estate grown 100% Blue Weber Agave, certified organic. Their Casa Noble Reposado is aged for 364 days in French white oak barrels, imbuing, aromas of vanilla, lemongrass, and floral notes balanced with flavors of sweet cooked agave and toasted oak – and will be a main feature of our CITC weekend menu.
High West, is based in Utah (the famous ‘dry state’ of America), is the state’s first legal distillery since 1870, and is home to an intriguing portfolio of whiskeys and bourbons. The High West Double Rye!, a spicy rye whiskey blend is the final addition to our Prohibition Era menu. With a nose of mint, clove, cinnamon, licorice root, pine nuts, and dark chocolate, with a surprising dose of gin botanicals throughout; along with its Rye spices right at the front it makes the perfect ingredient to a host of cocktails.
Tickets for Cocktails in the City are £20 per day, and give you access to an entire day of experiences from a host of globe-spanning drinks brands. More information and tickets about the event are available here
